Tanzania day 3 — Lake Manyara

Camping will never be the same after this.

This morning our driver for the safari picked us up at Olpopongi. 5 hours later we arrived at Lake Manyara national park — one of the smaller ones so you'll find plenty of wildlife without driving too much.

We saw monkeys of different sorts, most of them very playful and photogenic. A giraffe decided to walk to a three just beside our car, it got so close I had to change my lense to be able to get a picture. the same happened with a group of elephants, including to young ones around the age of 4, for a moment it seemed as they would enter the car. I were considering sitting down in the car, those animals are huge!

A bit more distant we saw hippos (lazy animals, just bathing without even considering getting up to pose for us), zebras, impalas, buffalos and probably a few more. Not to forget the incredible view of the flamingo-pink Lake Manyara.

An excellent start for our safari!

In the late evening we checked in at Migunga Tented Camp, setting a totally new standard for camping life! Camping will never be the same after this. What we stay in IS a tent, but we have electricity, a big bathroom with all you need, and two beds with good mattresses. The cowhide bed at Olpopongi was very nice and charming, but I have to admit that this feels like heaven now.

After a delicious four course dinner at the restaurant, we are ready to sleep soft and comfy, dreaming about monkeys and elephants.
